When Water Comes to Life - Cloud Cult

I'm going to see Radiohead this summer. These guys remind me of Radiohead.

Cloud Cult makes their recordings using geothermal energy and tour using biodiesel.

Craig Minowa who founded the band lost his son Kaidin when he was 2. The child simply did not wake up one morning. Sad.

and when the angels come
they'll cut you down the middle
to see if you're still there
to see if you're still there

and underneath your ribs
they'll find the heart shaped locket
an old photograph of you in daddy's arms

and then they'll sew you closed
and give you back to the water
from where we're all born
from where we're all born

and you'll feed the ghosts
and you'll feed the living
you'll be a stranger
and you'll a friend

you'll be the leper
and you'll be the healer
you'll be the hero
and the tragedy

and when they sew you closed
they'll give you back to the water
from where we're all born
from where we're all born

and when they burn your body
all thats left is sand crystals
two tiny handfuls
all the rest is water, water, water

all you need to know
is you were born of water
you are made of water
you are living water, water, water

all you need to know
is you were born of water
you are made of water
you are living water, water, water

The Music Lovers - Destroyer

Destroyer is a pretty hairy guy I've been told.

Feeling fine, but it must be the wine
Cause it's April 27th and my baby's still dying on me
We stole a gondola to sea
And ditched the chaperones on jewel-encrusted roans who called us 'unprofessional'
Deep down they knew,
Oh that we were the music lovers

People say - "They just didn't want it enough"
Here, the people say - "They just didn't want it enough"
Oh, but we were the music lovers
People say - "They just didn't want it enough"
Hear the people say - "They just didn't want it enough"

The time of your lives has been had
And your wives have been bad
And look, the private sector's not denied you for the last time
They're saying - "Those grapes go rotten on the vine"
Oh, but once we were the music lovers

People say - "They just didn't want it enough"
Here, the people say - "They just didn't want it enough"
Oh, but we were the music lovers
People say - "They just didn't want it enough"
Hear the people say - "They just didn't want it enough"

Sister, the world cannot hold us...
Brother, you can go your own way...

Time To Pretend - MGMT

Yeah - I know everyone is listening to this. I never said that the blog would be groundbreaking. I just said that the songs, they'd be good.

This one is all about fate. It describes the shiny glam rock dream laced with sarcastic overtures that bring you right back down to reality. Luv it. And in the collective discussion about "sexy" indie rock that goes on, these guys are just that.

I'm feeling rough, I'm feeling raw, in the prime of my life
Let's make some music, make some money, find some models for wives
I'll move to Paris, shoot some heroin, and fuck with the stars
You man the island and the cocaine and the elegant cars

This is our decision, to live fast and die young
We've got the vision, now let's have some fun
Yeah, it's overwhelming, but what else can we do
Get jobs in offices, and wake up for the morning commute

Forget about our mothers and our friends
We're fated to pretend
To pretend
We're fated to pretend
To pretend

I'll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms
I'll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world
I'll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home
Yeah, I'll miss the boredem and the freedom and the time spent alone

There's really nothing, nothing we can do
Love must be forgotten, life can always start up anew
The models will have children, we'll get a divorce
We'll find some more models, everyting must run it's course

We'll choke on our vomit and that will be the end
We were fated to pretend
To pretend
We're fated to pretend
To pretend

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

You! Me! Dancing! - Los Campesinos!

LC played at a venue I don't like but I saw the show with people I like. It started way too early and so we were let in free of charge. What I expected wasn't much, what I saw was pretty awesome. Especially for a bunch of kids...or make that because of it?

They do a pretty alright cover of Pavement's "Frontwards".

This song is about dancing, one of the better ones on the matter. If I had a song choice about pool-side lounging that would have been ok too. Any suggestions?

The beats, yeah, they were coming out the speakers
and were winding up straight in your sneakers.
And I'm dancing like every song who spends his bizzle
like all my dance heroes would if they existed.

And yeah it's sad that you think that we're all just scenesters
(and even if we were it's not the scene you're thinking of)
to taking props from nineties boy band fashions
all crop tops and testosterone passion.

If there's one thing I could never confess,
it's that I can't dance a single step.

It's you!
It's me!
And there's dancing! (x2)

Not sure if you mind if I dance with you,
but I don't think right now that you care about anything at all.
And oh, if only there were clothes on the floor,
I'd feel for certain I was bedroom dancing.
And it's all flailing limbs at the front line.
Every single one of us is twisted by design
and dispatches from the back of my mind
say so long as we're here everything is alright.

If there's one thing that I could never confess,
it's that I can't dance a single step.

It's you!
It's me!
And there's dancing! (x2)

The video is sweet too. We should all get down with the dancing...
